Gabriella Ciancimino

Gabriella Ciancimino (Palermo, 1978).While completing her Painting at Fine Arts Academy of Palermo (2001-2005) Ciancimino was acquiring knowledge on humanist studies, mainly through history and philosophy. During those years, she practiced journalism together with political activism, which was the beginning of her investigation on Relational Dynamics and communication, still present in her “artistic practice”. For the last 10 years she has chosen a nomadic life, migrating constantly, and participating in various international residency programmes. Individual presentations of her work and special solo projects include “Fatimide Tales” , a site-specific project curated by the Manifesta 12 Education Department, Teatro Garibaldi, Palermo (IT); Manifesta 12 collateral event “IN LIBERTY WE TRUST”, Palazzo Ziino, Palermo (IT) and “La stanza dello Scirocco” at Prometeogallery, Milan (IT) “Liberty Flowers”, at Libreria delle Donne, Milan (IT), all in 2016 and “All’allerbaggio” at Museo Villa Croce, Genova (IT), in 2013.
Ciancimino has been contributing with her work in institutional exhibitions such at MMOMA, Moscow (RU) in 2016; MACBA, Barcelona (ES) in 2014; Kunsthalle Mulhouse, Mulhouse (FR), Museo Villa Croce, Genova (IT), PAV, Turin (IT), and Triennale di Milano, Milano (IT), all in 2013; Benin Biennal, at RISO - Museo d’Arte Contemporanea della Sicilia, Palermo (IT), in 2012 and 2010; “Working For Change - Project for A Moroccan Pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale” , Venice (IT) 2011.
Her works are in the public collections of Museo del Novecento, Milan (IT), Frac Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Marseille (FR), and Museo Villa Croce, Genova (IT).
