Eternity, her responsive body and other stories

mostra personale di Petra Feriancová

On the Piano Nobile of Palazzo Collicola in Spoleto, from November 11th it will be possible to visit Eternity, her responsive body and other stories, a solo exhibition by Petra Feriancová (Bratislava, Slovakia, 1977) curated by Davide Silvioli and Tiago de Abreu Pinto. The title of the exhibition suggests the narrative nature of the project, which sees the artist rereading the spaces of Palazzo Collicola, through a series of interventions with an almost mimetic character, conceived for the occasion.

The exhibition project involves the inclusion of a set of different works, including sculptures, installations and sound works that converse, in contrast or in harmony, with the rooms on the Piano Nobile and the works of the collection preserved within them. Added to these is a pair of Frederickian heads dating back to the 22nd century, coming from the municipal deposit of Santo Chiodo: these are artefacts no longer on public display as they were damaged by events and worn by the passage of time, which Feriancová identified precisely for their character of “compromised works” and to be a symbol of vulnerability. In particular, in this way, works from different historical periods, beyond historical hierarchies, will find themselves in dialogue together, according to associations of meaning and highlighting themes such as metamorphosis, the concept of memory, interpretation and that of archive , which has always been at the center of Feriancová's artistic practice.

The project is carried out with public funds from the Slovak Arts Council and with the support of the Gilda Lavia gallery in Rome.
